Gaining Permission

There are legal implications in the process of creating a music video. If this section of the process is ignored you might find yourself being prosecuted. As a result before you can make the music video you have to first acquire permission from the people who own the song. The permission can be gained from either the artist or the labels which the bands are assigned to. You would be breaking copyright laws if the music video were to use their song without their permission however the purpose of this law is for the protection of the artist and the deterrence from gaining a financial gain illegally from someone else's song.

Here you'll see that I have visited their website so that I can look for any means so as to contact the artist or the labels that they are assigned to so as to ask for permission to use their song for educational purposes and not break the copyright law.

As you can see above I was able to find their managements email and so I sent them a message requesting permission to use their music video and why we wanted to use it. In addition we also stated to them that we would not use it to gain any financial gain but rather just to use for educational purposes.

When I use their music for our music video, I will further strengthen their permission and trust by crediting them in my music video so that they understand that I will not be using their song for nothing but my media course.
